Users of the CuliQuiz application can request permanent deletion of their account and associated personal data. The CuliQuiz application consists of the iOS and Android mobile application and the player web application.

Website and application scope

This account-deletion page is hosted on the public CuliQuiz marketing website. The website and the CuliQuiz application are separate technical environments.

  • An account-deletion request made on this page applies to your CuliQuiz application account and the personal data associated with that account.
  • The public website may use website cookies, analytics and marketing technologies in accordance with your cookie choices and the Privacy Policy. These website technologies are not part of the CuliQuiz application.
  • Deleting the mobile app, clearing website cookies or withdrawing website cookie consent does not by itself delete your CuliQuiz application account.
  • The CuliQuiz application contains no advertisements and uses no advertising SDKs, advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking.

Delete your account in the app

The quickest way to initiate deletion is in the CuliQuiz app:

  • Open your Profile.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select Delete account.
  • Review the information and confirm your request.

Request deletion on the website

If you cannot access the app, complete the account-deletion form on this page using the email address connected to your CuliQuiz account.

After submitting the request, we may email you to verify that you are the account owner. Do not send us your password. Once the request is verified, deletion is scheduled and normally completed within 30 days. You may cancel the request before final completion by following the instructions in the verification message or contacting support.

Deleting the CuliQuiz app from your device does not automatically delete your account.

What will be deleted or anonymised?

When the verified request is completed, we delete or irreversibly anonymise personal data associated with the application account, including, where applicable:

  • the CuliQuiz account and direct account identifiers;
  • name, display name and email address;
  • profile information, language and preferences;
  • organisation, team and membership connections;
  • personal learning progress and gameplay history;
  • personal scores, XP, streaks, badges and leaderboard links;
  • campaign participation linked to your identity;
  • guest or session data that has been linked to the account; and
  • other information directly linked to the account.

What may be retained?

Anonymous or aggregated game, campaign and platform statistics may be retained where this information can no longer reasonably be linked to you. If an anonymous score must remain to preserve the integrity of a completed leaderboard, it may be shown as “Deleted player” without an account or direct identifier.

We may retain limited information where required by law or necessary for security, fraud prevention or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Any retained information remains protected and is used only for those purposes.

Personal data is removed from active systems as part of the deletion process. Encrypted backup copies may remain until they are overwritten under the normal backup rotation cycle, normally within 90 days. Backup data is isolated and used only for security and disaster recovery.

Website cookies and privacy requests

Website cookie choices can be changed through the cookie settings on the public website and through your browser settings. These actions are separate from deleting a CuliQuiz application account.

To exercise a privacy right concerning identifiable data from the public website, contact complaints@culiquiz.nl.

Confirmation

We will confirm receipt of your request and notify you when deletion is complete. If we cannot verify the account or need additional information, we will contact the email address you provided.
